How Viruses Can Infect Your MAC

Can a MAC get a virus? Initially, you might think that MAC can never be corrupted by viruses. By listening to some MAC supporters, they'd surely get you to believe that this operating system is too good to get one. The truth is, you can find viruses created to damage MAC. For instance, MAC was hit by Trojan virus way back in 2006. Whatever may be possible for any computer genius, they're able to obtain the most dynamic software as well as the most damaging program throughout the computer history.

For people who use computers, one of the things that will strike you senses is the existence of harmful elements which can ruin your computer system. Apple Macintosh users are more unlikely to obtain viruses compare with Microsoft Windows. Actually, there are some MAC users who don?t even install anti-virus security program. Well, this may not be the right thing to try. Still you ought to be guarded as MAC isn't really completely resistant to viruses.

Now it is understandable that any personal computer which operates a software is vulnerable to find viruses, which has no exclusion. Why don't we go further to discover some explanations on why can a MAC get a virus at way less chances when compared with some other operating systems. Firstly, Microsoft Windows are used by a bigger percentage of computer users than MAC. Secondly, MAC is based in the Unix kernel which has been deemed as the oldest and most secure operating system available. And finally, most virus makers tend to be familiar with the IBM platform and Microsoft Windows than MAC.

Luckily for us, you can find anti-virus versions released by major antivirus software specifically for MAC users. Considering that the demand for MAC is kind of minimal, antivirus companies normally charge upon downloads of MAC anti-virus. Until lately, a number of free anti-virus software was introduced in this marketplace such a PC Tools iAntivirus and Clamxav.

In case that you don?t have anti-virus yet, look for free software application via the internet. Why buy something if you can have it absolutely for free? There are a lot of reliable anti-virus software companies that offer it for cost-free. But before being blinded with these, it is essential to know the capacity of any certain software to shield your computers. There won't be any other considerations which could give you a reassurance than having protected from threatening viruses when it comes to your computers. Most free versions have limited attributes. For full editions, they usually require payment however they are accommodating enough to provide trial periods before buying.

Operating an online PC with your MAC can still bring in Windows viruses because it is imitating Microsoft Windows. It will be one scenario in which you must run an anti-virus program in it. Moreover, MAC may serve as carrier of viruses wherein, a virus could possibly be stored within the MAC without having the user realizing it. It could possibly infect the entire network or send infected emails to a Microsoft computer.

Reading through this article, one can possibly have a very good overview of how MAC is way distinct from Microsoft windows in working with your computer security. It lays down situations when can a MAC get a virus and also the most sensible precaution to do to avoid major computer damage.

Spacewalkers do repairs at space station

Two astronauts worked to replace failed equipment outside the International Space Station on Thursday, making the second spacewalk in less than two weeks at the 260-mile-high (418-kilometer-high) lab.

NASA's Sunita Williams and Japan's Akihiko Hoshide expected to spend six hours plugging in a new power-switching unit, hooking up power cables, and replacing a bad camera on the space station's big robotic arm.

They got off to a fast start, stowing an extending tool shortly after floating out.

"You have officially reached rock-star status," Mission Control radioed. "You've got your first get-ahead done and we're 30 minutes" into the spacewalk.

Trouble with the spacewalkers' helmet cameras prevented Mission Control from seeing close-up images of the early action. But an hour into the spacewalk, flight controllers got the problem fixed. "We're back," Mission Control assured the astronauts.

Thursday's outing comes just 10 days after two Russians worked outside the orbiting complex, installing shields to protect against micrometeorite strikes.

This latest flurry of spacewalks aside, it's no longer common for astronauts to step into the vacuum of space. That's because after almost 14 years, the space station is virtually complete and running well. Plus NASA's shuttles are retired and now museum pieces.

Williams is the lone woman among the space station's current six-person crew. She and Hoshide arrived at the space station a month ago, launching from Kazakhstan aboard a Russian rocket.

Kbb.com: The Slow Extinction of the SUV | Dealer Communications

According to Alec Gutierrez, senior market analyst of automotive insights, Kelley Blue Book, the exodus away from SUVs has been underway for the past five years and will likely continue for the foreseeable future.? Since 2007, mid-size SUV sales have dropped by 70 percent, while compact crossover sales have skyrocketed by 50 percent.? Through the same time period, the number of mid-size sport utility vehicles offered up by manufacturers for sale has declined from 19 nameplates in 2007 to a paltry seven today.? All that remains today are the Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Liberty, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Nissan Pathfinder, Nissan Xterra and Dodge Nitro.

It?s no secret that America?s love affair with the mid-size SUV has steadily faded during the past several years.? As gas prices approached $4.00 per gallon not once, but three times since 2008, consumers have reassessed their priorities and determined that in most cases, a truck-based gas-guzzling SUV isn?t necessary.? Unless you have a need for the off-road or towing capability of a true truck-based SUV, there are far more suitable alternatives available today that offer comparable utility with the added bonus of improved performance, handling and fuel economy.

Not only has consumer preference for SUVs waned, the priorities of manufacturers have shifted to producing vehicles with better fuel economy to meet increasing CAFE standards.? For 2012, CAFE standards call for light trucks such as SUVs and Crossovers maintain just over 24 mpg.? This is expected to increase to 28.8 mpg by 2016 before maxing out at 40.3 mpg by 2025.

Fuel efficiency has become one of the top factors consumers consider when shopping for a new vehicle.? According to the Q2 Consumer Sentiment Survey conducted by Kelley Blue Book?s Market Intelligence group, 19 percent of all respondents indicated that they were shopping for a new vehicle to obtain better fuel economy than the vehicle they were replacing.? Fuel efficiency ranked second out of the 12 reasons consumers indicated they were in the market for a new vehicle.

Due to their larger footprint and weight, traditional SUVs are less favorable among automakers focused on producing more fuel-efficient crossovers.? In fact, the latest generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango and Ford Explorer all converted from body on frame SUVs to unibody crossovers to help lower weight and increase fuel efficiency.? As CAFE standards continue to rise and consumers seek more fuel-efficient alternatives, SUVs will continue to lose market share.

As the popularity of SUVs has declined, crossovers have emerged to fill the gap.? Crossovers offer AWD, towing capability near that of a comparable SUV, an elevated seating position and many of the same characteristics that helped endear the SUV in the hearts and minds of consumers through the 1990s and early 2000s.? Crossovers deliver on nearly everything SUVs bring to the table, while also offering performance, handling and fuel economy comparable to a mid-size or compact sedan.

Not only are the crossovers available today far more fuel efficient than traditional SUVs, in some cases, they actually approach the fuel economy of small cars.? The all-new 2013 Mazda CX-5 with SKYACTIV technology offers up an incredible 35 mpg on the highway; equal to the redesigned Toyota Camry and a scant 5 mpg shy of the 40 mpg benchmark of the most fuel-efficient subcompact and compact cars.? It is able to achieve this without sacrificing ride height, performance or utility, making it a practical alternative for someone looking to transition from an SUV to crossover.

Among those left standing, Nissan has already announced that the next generation Pathfinder will become a crossover sharing its architecture with the well-received Infiniti JX.? The Liberty also is expected to become a crossover for its next redesign, while the Dodge Nitro ceased production altogether late last year.? By 2014, the only mid-size SUVs left standing will be the Jeep Wrangler (a favorite among enthusiasts), the Toyota 4Runner, Nissan Xterra and the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Although mid-size SUV sales have all but disappeared, there is still a large segment of the population that prefers utility vehicles over cars.? As the mid-size SUV continues on its long death march, the crossover will solidify its position as the vehicle of choice for consumers seeking utility.

The Anthologist, City of London | London Unattached - London ...

v.?an?thol?o?gized,?an?thol?o?giz?ing,?an?thol?o?giz?es
v.intr.
To compile or publish an anthology.

v.tr.
To include (material) in an anthology.

an?tholo?gist,?an?tholo?gizer?n.

Noun 1. anthologist?- an editor who makes selections for an anthology

The Anthologist in Gresham Street, is quite appropriately, a large city bar with a very wide selection of eclectic food and drinks including foraged cocktails and salads ?from the Woods and Gardens?.? It?s right in the heart of the City, just off Bank, and on Tuesday lunchtime was packed with office workers.? I arrived early and my friend was running late, but they were kind enough to bring me a large board of bread and olives and some sparkling water to keep me going while he negotiated the vagaries of London Transport.

the anthologist - bread and olives

The interior is a large space and quite buzzy in the main dining areas, at least during lunch hour, but rather smartly, it?s been divided up into different types of seating areas (little booths, long bars, small tables and big communal ones).? We were seated in a pretty looking booth, on comfy armchairs that were just a little bit too big for the space allowed.? Since neither of us is that big, I did wonder how a chunkier city chap would cope though for us it was pretty perfect.? Service was very friendly and very fast.? And, watching other diners that appeared to be the rule ? food and drinks arrived very quickly, although we could see that everything was freshly made in the open kitchen.

the anthologist tempura

Our starters were not in the least unpleasant, but if I?m brutally honest I?d sack the editor?my tempura crispy squid with ginger and citrus mayo seemed to have the same dense batter as the large baskets of beer battered? fish we saw being served elsewhere (or perhaps the fryer simply wasn?t quite hot enough) ?and my friend?s ceviche was a lovely fresh crab and prawn salad with a grapefruit accompaniment rather than either fish appearing to have touched a citrus/chilli marinade.? Both dishes really lovely in their own right, but not quite what we expected from the description.

The Anthologist Ceviche

On to the main course,? I chose scallops with black pudding from the specials.? Now, unlike the main menu, this wasn?t marked up with ?skinny? options, although I suspect it could have been. ?While the scallops were nicely cooked and the larger sort, ?I do think three scallops and one slice of black pudding with a small salad is perhaps a little too much of a skinny dish for a main course.

the anthologist Scallops

Maybe it was intended as a starter, but at ?15.95 against a menu where the standard starter pricing runs from ?6-?8, it was an extremely expensive one.? My dining companion?slLobster burger looked remarkably like the lobster roll from Lobster and Burger, with a soft brioche roll filled with lobster mayo and micro herbs, and while he enjoyed it, again it wasn?t the dish he thought he?d ordered.

the anthologist lobster burger

For dessert I chose a cr?me brulee with lavender shortbread which was pretty and nicely presented.? Perhaps a little more of a burnt sugar topping would have been nice, but otherwise fine. The lavender shortbread was gorgeous, crispy and short with just a hint of lavender. ?My dining companion?s dessert shots were very cute and a great idea for the sort of place where people are going to be sharing.

the anthologist creme brulee

We drank a bottle of Chilean sauvignon blanc, which is priced just under ?19.? The wine and cocktail list is very well priced and I really like the ?skinny? mark-up on both drinks and food, it?s a lot less intimidating than a full calorie count and still gives the information you need if, like me, you are trying to lose a bit of weight.? By the time we finished at around 2.30pm the restaurant was almost empty ? five stars for impressively efficient and pleasant service.

the anthologist - dessert shots

So, for me the Anthologist wins points for a pleasant, vibrant and attractive space, great service and tasty food, with food and drinks at very good prices.? But, it does lose out on descriptions.? Some things really are not what it says on the tin.? And, I can?t believe there?s a dessert with NO calories at all (the Salted Caramel and Roasted Plum Knickerbocker glory is listed with the note ?try me I have no calories!).? When I asked our waitress she was hesitant and couldn?t tell me?I?d love to know because I?d definitely take up residence!

All in, if I worked in the area I?d be happy to go there for lunch with friends or for drinks after work.? It?s good quality food at reasonable prices and the space is pleasant, clean and for the most part comfortable (I did like the little booths, just couldn?t see how two larger people would fit).? And the skinny tape-measure is a menu triumph for me at least and something I?d like to see other places copy. ?It?s an interesting mix of drinks and bar food in a very relaxed, friendly space, with lots of options depending on whether you are eating alone, with a couple of friends or on a date or business meeting.

Bacterial cause found for skin condition rosacea

ScienceDaily (Aug. 28, 2012) ? Scientists are closer to establishing a definitive bacterial cause for the skin condition rosacea. This will allow more targeted, effective treatments to be developed for sufferers, according to a review published in the Journal of Medical Microbiology.

Rosacea is a common dermatological condition that causes reddening and inflammation of the skin mostly around the cheeks, nose and chin. In severe cases skin lesions may form and lead to disfigurement. Rosacea affects around 3% of the population -- usually fair-skinned females aged 30-50 and particularly those with weak immune systems. The condition is treated with a variety of antibiotics, even though there has never been a well-established bacterial cause.

A new review carried out by the National University of Ireland concludes that rosacea may be triggered by bacteria that live within tiny mites that reside in the skin.

The mite species Demodex folliculorum is worm-like in shape and usually lives harmlessly inside the pilosebaceous unit which surrounds hair follicles of the face. They are normal inhabitants of the face and increase in number with age and skin damage -- for example, following exposure to sunlight. The numbers of Demodex mites living in the skin of rosacea patients is higher than in normal individuals, which has previously suggested a possible role for the mites in initiating the condition.

More recently, the bacterium Bacillus oleronius was isolated from inside a Demodex mite and was found to produce molecules provoking an immune reaction in rosacea patients. Other studies have shown patients with varying types of rosacea react to the molecules produced by this bacterium -- exposing it as a likely trigger for the condition. What's more, this bacterium is sensitive to the antibiotics used to treat rosacea.

Dr Kevin Kavanagh who conducted the review explained, "The bacteria live in the digestive tracts of Demodex mites found on the face, in a mutually beneficial relationship. When the mites die, the bacteria are released and leak into surrounding skin tissues -- triggering tissue degradation and inflammation."

"Once the numbers of mites increase, so does the number of bacteria, making rosacea more likely to occur. Targeting these bacteria may be a useful way of treating and preventing this condition," said Dr Kavanagh. "Alternatively we could look at controlling the population of Demodex mites in the face.. Some pharmaceutical companies are already developing therapies to do this, which represents a novel way of preventing and reversing rosacea, which can be painful and embarrassing for many people."

Supreme Court of Canada to hear appeal of Ontario generic drug rules

OTTAWA ? The Supreme Court of Canada has agreed to consider two cases that pit major pharmacies against the Ontario government?s rules on private-label generic drugs.

The justices say they will hear a pair of appeals brought by Shoppers Drug Mart and other big pharmacy chains.

The companies won a lower court case last year that threw out government rules barring pharmacies from substituting their own generic versions of name-brand drugs.

But the Ontario Court of Appeal overturned that and restored the regulations.

The court battles reflect moves by the deficit-strapped Ontario government to cut health-care costs as it struggles to balance its books over the next few years.

As usual, the justices gave no reasons for their decision to hear the appeal.

Slate Flooring,Slate Tiles - Caring For Your Slate Flooring

Are you loving your newly installed slate flooring now? When slate tiles are brand new, they're so easy to fall in love with. Unlike ceramic tiles which look great but seem rather cold and plain, slate flooring adds a warm natural charm to any home. Good quality slate tiles from especially when properly designed and installed truly have a transformational beauty.

Keeping it that way though is rather tricky. Slate tiles are made from porous natural stones making it susceptible to staining. Slate flooring also absorbs liquid quickly which in the long run will cause cracks or breakage.

The rough uneven surface that gives slate tiles their earthy appeal also has its drawbacks. Dirt and fibers can get in between grooves making slate flooring a little difficult to clean after some time.

Good slate tile suppliers can give you useful tips on how to properly maintain your slate tiles. Here are some more pointers:

1. Slate tile suppliers usually recommend you sweep dirt off of your slate flooring everyday. When doing so, remember to run the dust-mop on one direction only to avoid spreading the dirt around.

2. It would be best to wipe your Slate Tiles with a damp cloth every week. You can use a very mild liquid soap but never a strong detergent. After thoroughly mopping, rinse off the soapy water with a sponge mop and some clean water. Dry your slate flooring with a soft rag.

3. Try to keep your slate tiles away from stains. This is going to be hard if you have children running around but be sure not to leave any kind of spill unattended. Ask slate tile suppliers if they can offer you anything to protect your slate flooring from stains. Usually a good quality sealant works just fine.

4. Scratches on the surface are a huge problem too. Slate Flooring may need resurfacing if it is starting to collect marks of furniture being dragged on the surface. A topical sealer could conceal the marks and scratches a little bit but probably not entirely. So before the situation becomes irreversible, put pads beneath the legs of tables and chairs and never drag pieces of furniture around the house.

Slate tile suppliers can give you good advice on how to care for your slate tiles and offer you products for their maintenance. With reasonable care, slate flooring can be a designer or homeowner's dream.

Dungeons and Dragons- This Is How We Roll (Part 1)

Hi readers,

I'm just back from playing Dungeons &?Dragons (D&D)?and thought I'd share my experience. This wasn't actually my first time at playing the role playing (RP) board game. A few years back for Christmas my family got a box game of it with everything already set up and the rules made simpler. This game came with us on holiday, mostly camping or the narrow boat because it's actually a great way to pass a good few hours whilst its raining or you've broke down etc. This was my first introduction to D&D and I enjoyed playing it because it was fantasy and adventures and something completely different to tradition/normal board games, which like most families we've been through them all.

My second encounter with D&D was with my ex and two of his friends some months back. We played at his house and did a small, self-contained game. This involved a lot more RP then the box game of course, but those guys really got into the spirit of the game. As for me, I struggled on the complexity of dealing with all the rules and numbers.?I've always been bad with numbers and remembering things. However, I did like it and was keen to learn and play again. Then?when we broke up I told myself that I wasn't going to let that stop me from having another?bash at D&D. I was still interested in it, but I just needed to find someone?to teach me.

Luckily, less then 2 months after the break up I met someone else and it was actually because of D&D that we got talking. We've been together 3 weeks now and?today was our 5th date. I guess nearly all girls would never concerned going to play D&D on a date. But it's becoming very noticeable to me that I have a nerd side which needs to be embraced. I class myself as a secret nerd, because I'm still unwilling- as of?yet!- to admit it fully. So, this evening I had another go at playing D&D and this time it was in a Manchester shop which supports such games and others of course. People gather to learn how to?play all kinds of things there, which I think is really good because sometimes you can get one of these RP or fantasy games home and not have a clue what to do with it! This evening we got told that all over the world people were sitting down to play the same adventure that we were about to go on because that's the way these massive things work. (Yeah, I'm still trying to get the hang of it all, just bare with me.)

(D&D dice- more covered in numbers then your normal dice....)

?

I'm so not going into the whole this is how you play D&D and make characters and stuff like that. There's lots?of websites with that information on and frankly I'm still a newbie at this. Here's the?official D&D site if you want to check it out - http://www.wizards.com/DnD/Default.aspx?. Also, I decided that I'm not going into the whole story and background that we are currently playing because and though I'm not confused by it, I'd rather not spoil it for people. But I shall do a little bit about the interesting events that happened in our game and my experiences of becoming a D&D player.?

?

Firstly, for the people who don't know what D&D is about and are busy wondering what's going on. D&D is actually all about telling stories. The players choice characters/heroes and the Dungeon Master (DM)?who is in control of telling the story also has control of the enemies/monsters and is there to guide the heroes through the story. The game?is played on a board which represents the area of the world that the heroes are currently in. There are so many different?areas and so many boards!

?

The players have character sheets which have lots of information in both word and number form printed/written on them. This is each heroes stats and has normal stuff like; their name, race and language(s) spoken. There is also weapons, other items, equipment and?treasure/money. A range of different skills can be picked and these are mostly chosen on the race of the character. There's things like; heal, thievery, nature, stealth, athletics and perception. Skills are useful for a large number of things like stealth would be used to sneak up on enemies

?

The main last point is about fighting. Heroes have to fight lots of different monsters, it's not just dragons all the time as the name suggests! There's a whole range of stuff from wild animals to?supernatural?to?goblins to harpies. The health of heroes is measured in hit points and this are effected when damaged (in any?number of ways) happens. For attacks there are a few things that can be done and it's actually not?as simple as drawing a sword and attacking said monster....though I guess you could do that...My character can choose to do tricks to aid in the fight like knocking a monster on to its back or setting a trap, before attacking.?You also get experience points too and can level up.?The goal of the game is to complete the adventure and get the rewards. ???????

(A game in action)

?

?

The adventure we started this evening was all about the Drow race? and their quest. The Drow are dark elves and therefore evil. There's an awesome website my boyfriend showed me which has lots of information about them and also about D&D. http://www.kismetrose.com/dnd/MyDrow.html?. I see no real need to go into this because you can just read about it all there. For the first part of?our adventure we had to fight off some strange creatures. If the DM said their?names I don't actually recall them. My boyfriend attacked the first one and got pinned to a wall and no one was able to get him down until close to the?end. It was rather funny, though his hero almost died when someone did?kill the monster and he fell to the floor. I almost died too, because I had to fight this ooze monster which poisoned me and I just couldn't get away in time. However, we both made it through and our heroes can carry on next week. In the end we did mange to kill all the monsters and move on into the next room and to the next?bit of the story. Then it was home time. You play a chapter of the story once a week for between 6/8-14 weeks. We are playing 8 weeks.

I was really worried about playing D&D this evening. I felt the same the first time I really?played it as I was scared I'd mess up or look like a fool in front of the others for not knowing how to play. I felt that again this time, though I was pretty much in the same boat as everyone else, as?it was their first time and no one knew how to play. But my other fear was that I might have been the only girl there. Kismetrose has a great article/essay about being a woman and playing D&D. http://www.kismetrose.com/dnd/Women.html?There were two other women there, so it was that bad, but it's just so rare they have girls in shops like the one I was in. Games like these have never really been seen as women's games and men have dominated playing them. Maybe it's because there's a level of immaturity in playing them and men are better connect to their inner child then women? There's also a level of escapism which seems to appeal more to men. I love escapism, I do it in my writing all the time. On reflection, I can't really explain my nerd side or why I?enjoy such related things. I've never been a typical woman though and perhaps that has something to do with it?

Anyway, I'm please to say that I did like D&D and I plan to go back next week and carry on playing. It might be a hard game to understand, but it's easy enough to play. Also the social atmosphere was good in the shop and I wasn't treated like I shouldn't have been there or made to feel silly because I didn't know what to do.?And as you might?have noticed in the title of this post I added the (Part?1) because I strongly believe I shall be writing about D&D again, though if I decided to write every week about it or just to start that way and then just add the events into different posts, is still to be decided.

Finally, if you've read through all of this and decided that playing D&D might be for you then go and check out the official website and find a game near you. Also girls don't be scared to embrace you nerd/geeky sides! Though beware that interesting things can happen when you do....

S. Sudan oil minister: oil deal possible by 22 Sept

The Minister of Petroleum and Mining in the Republic of South Sudan Stephen Dhieu Dau said that Sudan and South Sudan could sign an agreement on oil pipelines, fees and arrears by 22 September.

Speaking at a press conference in Juba on Thursday, Dhieu pointed out that the deal reached at the beginning of August was never signed and the formalization of that agreement will have to be done in the coming round of talks in Addis Ababa.

The unsigned agreement was announced 3 August just two weeks a meeting of the Sudans? presidents on the sidelines of the African Union Heads of State Summit. Resolution of outstanding security issues was put as a condition for finalizing the oil deal.

Diplomats from the two Sudans were scheduled to resume negotiations in Addis Ababa on 26 August but the talks were delayed till the second week of September after the death of Ethiopian Prime-Minister Meles Zenawi.

At the press conference today, the minister also disclosed that production would not resume until several months after the deal. For Upper Nile State which produces the Dar Blend, the delay could be 4-6 months, whereas for Unity State which produces the Nile Blend the delay could be 10-12 months.

South Sudan?s Ministry of Petroleum called the press conference today to promote the nation?s new petroleum act, which passed the National Assembly last month. He explained that the ministry held a two-day workshop with civil society organizations to promote knowledge of the Act.

For some reason, the original OOC that was generated with the roleplay refuses to work for me. What a nuisance.

I have approved everyone's character. Some aren't finished, so don't mind half-done profiles.

Don't be afraid to talk to me. I don't bite. Plotting here is encouraged. Talking and rambling to each other is also encouraged.

Being angry with each other and having sex in the OOC is not encouraged. At all. Seriously. That's like ban material there.

So hello everyone. :3

Romney at the RNC: From the Audacity of Hype to the Tenacity of ...

Everyone is asking what Governor Romney should say when he addresses the Republican National Convention tonight in Tampa. ?It?s going to be an important moment in which Romney can cut past the clutter and the cacophony of the election season and speak directly to the American electorate. ?It?s especially important for the challenger, who has fewer opportunities to speak at length to a national audience.

I received the following email from Mitt, and the note he wants to sound tonight rang through clearly: he wants to strike a note of Reaganite optimism. ?Check out this note and see if you think the same:

Friend,

In a few hours, I?ll take the podium before a Republican Party that has been united and inspired by a common conviction:

We believe in America.

We believe in America, even though the last four years have been full of difficulties and disappointments, doubt and despair.

We believe in America, even though millions of American families are worried about their jobs, their mortgages, their children, and their future.

We believe in America, even though President Obama?s failed policies have left us with record high unemployment, lower take-home pay, and the weakest economy since the Great Depression.

But we also believe that America can do better, because decline is not our destiny.

I commit to you that I will be the president this moment demands.

I ask you to commit like never before ? donate $20.12 to support Paul and me and the entire Republican team.?

It will be my privilege to stand at the podium to accept the nomination. And I will stand not just for every supporter, and not just for the Republican Party ? I?ll stand for every American who believes our best days are ahead.

Thank you,

Mitt Romney

We believe in America ? decline is not our destiny ? I?ll stand for every American who believes our best days are ahead. ?You can practically hear the?morning in America?commercial. ?I expect this is the tone Romney will sound tonight.

It seems right to me. ?Romney has prosecuted the case against Barack Obama, and he will continue to do so. ?His allies and surrogates will press the case with even greater force and ardor. ?Mitt?s role is to be the leader. ?His role tonight is to articulate a positive vision of American renewal, a full-orbed vision that comprehends the renewal of values and virtues, the renewal of families and communities, the renewal of businesses and institutions, all the way to an economy that bears fruit for everyone and a humbler, more responsible government that will not plunder that economy but protect its freedom to flourish. ?Then his role is to convince Americans that this renewal is possible, that our future really can outshine our past, and that he is the leader who can take us there.

Obama 2008 was about the audacity of hype. ?What Obama sold in 2008 was less hope than hype, because hope is not baseless, and Obama was all surface and no substance, all promise and no power. ?Americans ? some of them, anyway ? fell so in love with the promises that they failed to note that Obama possessed neither the record, the experience nor the expertise to suggest that he could follow through on those promises.

Romney 2012 is about the tenacity of hope. ?The miracle that hope endures even through the worst of times, that it survives like a flower bud beneath the ruins of a stagnant economy and a dysfunctional government. ?For the Obama diehards, of course, they?still place their hope in a President who has failed to deliver on his most important commitments. ?But for the rest of us, countless Americans across the fruited plain are devastated and despairing, wondering whether this country that has skidded off the rails can ever be put back on the path to prosperity and peace. ?We were not pleased with the state of the nation at the end of the Bush administration, but Obama has made matters worse and proven he hasn?t the answers.

The fundamental question voters are asking now is this: who can fix this horrible mess? ?Can anyone?fix it?

If Romney can embody and communicate hope tonight, if he can radiate hope in this country and a sense of confident that he is the leader to take us forward, then watch out. ?Hope is a powerful thing. ?More powerful than fear, than envy, than division. ?A little bit of hope is all it takes to begin a movement.

Lu Bird Baby: Baby Caleb's shower

Last weekend we had the pleasure of throwing his baby shower for my best friend Anna as they prepare for his arrival home!

Caleb's little life has been so amazing to watch.?

He's only 4 (almost 5) months old and God has already used Him mightily for His glory.

Caleb is proof that God is the Creator and Sustainer of life

and that He is full of mercy and grace.

What a great God we serve!

Here are a few details from the shower.

One of our friends made the cute "Mighty Mouse" onesie to represent Caleb's nickname in the NICU (the doctors called him mighty mouse because he was tiny but strong) and we decorated the mantle with some fabric bunting and pictures of Caleb over the past 4 months.?

The backyard was also decorated for the occasion but since it was sooooo hot we pretty much stayed indoors.?

We asked each guest to write a little note to Anna or baby Caleb and then a few of us shared them during the shower.?

It comes in handy to know a baker.?

One of our friends made the most delicious lemon cupcakes ever.?

Seriously I could have ate them all.

Oh and I totally forgot to take pictures of the rest of the food but we had lots of yummy brunch things...egg casserole, potatoes, french toast casserole, muffins, fruit, croissants, etc.

We also played a couple simple baby games.?

Because what's a baby shower without games.

And the best part of any shower...presents!!!

Anna finally got some BLUE in her life with tons of cute boy stuff (she also has two girls at home so they are overwhelmed with pink right now).?

It was so fun to be celebrating Anna and baby Caleb and we are all counting down the days until he is home.?
