Professional gym memberships are a great way to lose weight. They are also expensive. So if you are going to put out the money, you will want to go at least three times a week or it?s nothing but a big waste of hard earned cash. Unfortunately for many of us, that?s exactly what it becomes. Before you take the step paying for a gym membership that you may never use, try these free, in-home tips.
Chairs are Exercise Equipment
Sit on a straight-backed chair placed in a clear area in your home. Slowly raise your left leg until it is parallel with the floor, then lower it again. Do ten reprtitions with each leg, or twenty if you feel ten is too easy.
These Weights are Really Free
Do you need to build the muscle in your arms? Free weights can be expensive. Try using your body as a weight and doing push ups. If the traditional version is too difficult, use the back of the sofa. Stand about an arm?s length from the back of your sofa, placing your hands on top. Don?t hold onto the cushions, they will not give you enough support. Now, pivot your body so that you are leaning into the sofa at a forty-five degree angle. Bend your arms, so that you chest touches the furniture. Now straighten the arms so that you are at a pivot stance again. Do this five times. If it is too easy, it?s time to try the good, old-fashioned push-up on the floor. When you?re on the floor, do some leg raisers ? great for the thighs and buttocks. Lie on your side with your back straight, and slowly raise the uppermost leg as far as you can, hold it for a moment, then bring it back down. Do five on each side, or more if you can manage it.
Try Walking or Climbing Stairs
Another excellent way to exercise on the cheap is the good, old-fashioned walk. The movement is great exercise for your body, but it can also reduce stress. Take a walk at lunchtime, before work, or after dinner. During the walk you will have time to clear your head, breathe some air and let the tensions of the day evaporate. If you live or work in a building that has an elevator, most people will hop in the box rather than climbing the stairs. But taking the stairs a couple of times a day will help build your muscles and your heart. The exercise can also invigorate you after that post-lunch lethargy.
Gardening is good for the Body
Pulling weeds, mowing lawns, trimming hedges and digging will give you a full workout. Regular gardening ? and let?s face it, gardens need it ? will give your whole body a good work out ? and you?ll have a lovely garden to boot.
Take the dangers of excess belly fat seriously and protect your health today.
