Mac OS X Mountain Lion is coming tomorrow, July 25

Apple's latest operating system will hit the Mac App Store for $19.99

Apple has finally given its next version of Mac OS X ? Mountain Lion ? a release date and it's real close: tomorrow, July 25, in fact. Company CEO Tim Cook made the announcement during Apple's third quarter earnings report, which also contained some impressive sales numbers: 17 million iPads, 26 million iPhones, and four million Macs were sold in the last three months alone.

Mountain Lion will be available tomorrow from the Mac App Store as a $19.99 download. In fact, that's the only way you'll be able to get it ? Apple has said that it won't be offering USB keys containing the operating system like it did with OS X Lion. In addition, those who bought a new Mac in the last two weeks will be able to download the update for free.

Be sure to check out our extensive coverage of Mountain Lion to make certain that you're all set for the arrival of Apple's latest big cat-themed Mac OS. It's more iOS-like than ever, with features that'll look awfully familiar when iOS 6 hits this fall.
